Dynacrypt gives its users the option to use a Secret Key for file encryption and decryption. To use a Secret Key do the following:
1. Select Secret Key from the Setup menu. A Communication Key Dialog Box will appear as shown below.
2. Input the Secret Key in the
Communication Code Text field and in the Confirmation of Communication Code
Text Field provided in the Communication Key dialog box. If no Secret Key is used, the user's password and
other authentication information is used as the default. A Secret Key up to 125,000 characters in length can be
input for 1 million bit encryption.
3. Select the OK button when finished to use a Secret Key to encrypt and decrypt files.
4. Re-enter the Secret Key to confirm it and press the OK button.
If you want to use a file for your Secret Key, simply press the Import button. Browse your computer for a file to use. Any file will work. Don't worry about whether the file has 125,000 characters in it or not. Dynacrypt® will use the first 125,000 characters if it has more than this and all of the characters if it has less.
It is important when communicating over the Internet to use a Secret Key. If you are communicating sensitive information to another party over the Internet, make sure that you secure the information with an agreed upon Secret Key that is only known between you and the party that you are communicating with.
For your own personal files, you don't need a special Secret Key. However, if you want additional security, use a Secret Key. It is imperative that you do not forget this Secret Key. If you use the wrong Secret Key to attempt File Decryption, all of your data will be lost and no one on this planet will be able to recover it! If you do forget your Secret Key, check the Dynalogs to determine what key you used for encryption, prior to decryption to make sure so that you don't lose your work.
