Block Size

Dynacrypt® gives its users the option to change the Block Size used for file encryption. To change the Block Size do the following:

1.   Select Block Size from the Setup Menu. A Block Size Dialog Box will appear as shown below:

2.   Input the new Block Size in the field on the Block Size Dialog Box. Input a number between 1 and 100. The

      default is 10.

3.   Select the OK button when finished to accept the Block Size change.

The Block Size affects the complexity of the encryption algorithm. It makes cryptanalysis, the process used to break an encryption scheme, more difficult. A lower number increases the complexity exponentially and increases the time to encrypt and decrypt files. With a lower Block Size, the algorithm changes more rapidly and consequently there is more disk access causing a degradation in speed.
